Straight from the hearts of Interplay and Hudson Soft's Super Bomberman 3 source code comes the "fuse that just won't lose" -- Atomic Bomberman! An oddity in this franchise -- as it's an American- developed game that is based on a Japanese license. It also wasn't released in Japan. The first Bomberman game developed for PCs and the second PC Bomberman game overall , it boasted a robust amount of players at one time players, offline and online which was matched and surpassed by other games, like Saturn Bomberman.
It also contains a hidden level editor, pre-rendered 3D graphics, and sampled sound clips from famous American voice talent, Charlie Adler and Billy West!
It's very different than most games in this franchise, and it might be seen as What makes Dynablaster and its console brethren so addictive is Hudson's masterful balance between arcade and puzzle elements. Similar to Tetris but many times cuter , success in Dynablaster requires both quick decision-making, spotless timing, and good reflexes. And if that's not enough, the game's attractive graphics and seemingly endless surprises and extras that you will discover every few levels will keep you glued to the screen for that "just one more level" addiction we all know too well.

You will not buy them in stores anymore. You add a ton of maps with each one progressively harder than the last and voila!
That's how you make a good Bomberman game. In essence, Interplay tried to follow this formula in Atomic Bomberman, but somehow they failed to make it good. In my opinion, Interplay felt that a Bomberman game would be too childish for the mature PC game audience.
After all, the main focus of this series has always been on mindless, arcade-style fun. Far be it for the PC gaming community to have a game that doesn't have a story or mind-blowing graphics. So, Interplay tried to remedy this. They replaced the kiddie look with a mature, SVGA look. This isn't a bad thing as the game looks pretty good and retains its top-down perspective. Unfortunately, though, they single-handedly destroyed everything this game is about, namely, the fun.
Atomic Bomberman isn't a single-player game; its main thrust is in the multi-player aspect. The lack of a single player campaign is sickening.
